Martha's Vineyard Engagement

Last week, just before the New Year, I visited Martha’s Vineyard to photograph the engagement session of a beautiful couple. Suzanne and Scott traveled to the island for recreation and to make some preparations for their upcoming wedding there. We explored the quiet, wintery island together to capture some images of the couple before their Big day.

Martha’s Vineyard is a beautiful place! It is a paradise for the photographer, in particular on a sunny winter day, as there are practically no tourists and empty beaches. I sailed on the ferry at 8 am, to take the opportunity to spend a quiet morning photographing landscapes. I went to the Aquinnah Cliffs first thing and did not see a single person there. The strong biting wind kept me company as I captured image after image of dramatic clouds framing the magical seascape. I walked to several beaches and finally arrived in Edgartown, home of the famous white and black lighthouse. This lighthouse is charming and conveniently located near the ferry terminal in Edgartown. You can easily reach it on foot or enjoy the view from town, sitting on a bench near Harbor View Hotel. During the Christmas holidays, the lighthouse decorated with garlands and wreaths, which adds to the holiday coziness and beauty of the winter scene.

That afternoon, I met with Suzanne and Scott. We walked around Edgartown, shooting a classic Martha’s Vineyard engagement session during the end of the day’s golden light. Benny, the couple’s fun dog, happily joined the shoot and seemed to enjoy being photographed.

If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax or a winter getaway, Martha’s Vineyard, with its beaches, lighthouse, and quaint towns, provides the classic New England setting. I look forward to shooting Suzanne and Scott’s upcoming wedding in such a beautiful locale.
Hope you enjoy my photos of Martha’s Vineyard Engagement session
